Well Sewn aims to help readers make thoughtful choices about style, food and drink, travel, wellness, culture, and technology. These standards describe the approach we expect of our editorial work. We are also reviewing older articles, which may not yet include every sourcing or review detail described here.
Writers and experience
Author credits should identify the person responsible for an article and link to relevant background where available. Experience and qualifications should be described accurately. An administrative publishing account is not proof of who wrote an article, and a contributor biography does not establish that the contributor reviewed another writer’s work. Meet our contributors on the Our Team page.
Sources, experience, and opinion
Factual claims should have support that readers can check. Where practical, we link to original research, official information, or the organization responsible for a claim. A source should support the specific statement being made, and uncertainty or limitations should be explained.
Personal essays and preferences should be distinguishable from established facts. A product feature drawn from a manufacturer’s description should not be presented as an independent test. Claims of firsthand use, testing, or travel experience must reflect work actually performed.
Health and wellbeing coverage
Health content is general information, rather than an individual diagnosis or treatment plan. Clinical claims need appropriate evidence and review by a qualified professional whose expertise fits the subject. A “reviewed by” credit should appear only when that person has reviewed the specific article, with their relevant credentials and the review date.
Well Sewn does not currently have a confirmed qualified health reviewer. An article should not be assumed to have received clinical review unless it carries a specific, verifiable reviewer credit. Lifestyle perspectives should not be mistaken for medical recommendations, and readers should discuss individual health decisions with their own qualified healthcare professional.
Commercial relationships and disclosures
If coverage involves a material relationship—such as sponsorship, an affiliate commission, a free product, or a hosted experience—the relationship should be disclosed clearly in the relevant article. A disclosure should explain its nature rather than relying only on a general sitewide statement. Commercial relationships must not be presented as independent firsthand evidence.
AI and other editorial tools
Using an AI or automation tool does not replace editorial responsibility. Factual claims, quotations, citations, and credentials need checking. Where a tool materially contributes to the content or its creation method, the article should explain that contribution when it helps readers understand how the work was produced. Generated material must not be presented as a human experience or an expert review that did not occur.
Updates and corrections
Significant changes should be identified with an appropriate update or correction note. Original publication dates should be preserved; dates should not be refreshed merely to make an unchanged article appear newer.
To report a factual error, email info@well-sewn.com with the article URL, the disputed statement, and supporting information. Do not include private medical or financial records. Correction requests should be evaluated against the relevant evidence, and material corrections should explain what changed.
